Kindergarten Pressure

You know those things no one ever tells you about before having kids? Well lately I've come to realize something. I'm one of those baby moms. I nurse, cuddle, bathe, love, swing, play and feed tiny little babies gracefully. I manage to do everything while im working on 3 hours of sleep and I love it. Babies are soooo great, they just want to be held and loved and changed. Pretty simple, for the most part. But now my first baby is a 5 year old.....in kindergarten. Age 5 is hard, this kid is already telling me she needs hair spray and fighting over outfits and telling me what shoes she "WILL" be wearing. And then the hardest part is what they want these kids to learn in kindergarten.  I am just simply amazed at the pressure they put on these kids at such a young age. I mean really they expect these kids to read and practically do algebra at 5. And Hailey just turned 5, two weeks into the school year. This is so draining....Flash cards and homework, and PRESSURE. I feel so much pressure, she has to know 20 something sight words by the end of the first quarter....yea she knows I and the see? That's it and we've been at it  since the second week of August. How do you do it? Get your kids to learn all these things in lighting speed? This is hard adjusting to our new learning regiment.Give me back poopy diapers, black and white books, and a small bassinet closely by my bed, or her snuggled on my chest where she slept for the first 8 weeks of her life. Because this 5 year old age is for the birds.....

Here is easy to please baby hailey, sleeping on my chest peacefully.

And here is 5 year old Hailey getting ready to go to her first day of kindergarten

Old Navy JEANS!!!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of experiencing another Old Navy Style Council Share sample, and let me tell you I was so excited I could scream. I was counting down the days until I could use my coupon and share my other coupon with 1 friend for a free pair of Old Navy Jeans. I picked Jade and we had a blast. Thanks to crowdtap.com where you can easily become a member by clicking this link http://bit.ly/h9g9tL There you can earn cash, and free stuff. Not to mention if you want, any money you make on the site can be donated to a charity of your choice that is listed on the site. Let me start off by showing you jade in her jeans, she picked the boot cut style and tried on two different color choices. They both looked great but she went with the dark denim. How cute!

I first tried on the boot cut style also. But im more of a flare kind of girl. They looked much better on jade because she is taller. And if you can't tell from my pic im only 5'2.

Then I tried on the trouser cut. Which looked great even though I needed to be wearing a different kind of shoe. Flip flops and trouser fit in my opinion don't work out that great. These would be good with tall shoes and a nice top as they are a more sophisticated pant.
Then it was on to the slim fit flare, which I already own a pair that I LOVE. So I knew I would like them. They are a little fitted with some give and a big flared bottom.
Hello cute back side!

And last but not least. My pick, The Skinny Mini Flare.

These are more fitted through out the pant, and are made of a stretchy material. I had to go up a size in these jeans, but it was well worth it. I love the color and the fit. I already wore them out to lunch the next day after picking them out. Now if you want to check out jeans like this make sure you visit oldnavy.com. I had so much fun with this sample share, thank you so much Crowdtap.com for picking me. Hope I get picked in the future for more! I love Old Navy, such a great quality of clothing. Not to mention they are ALWAYS having sales. Make sure you sign up for their email program im constantly receiving emails for 25% off plus what is on sale that week.

Old Navy Summer Shorts Party

This weekend I had the pleasure of hosting an in-store Old Navy Summer Shorts Party. And it was a BLAST!! I got my girls together and headed to our closest Old Navy, which is in Coconut Point. We immediately started searching for outfits to try on and experiment with different styles. They have sooooo many different styles of shorts to try on. One of the friendly Old Navy employees saw how full my arms were and took me over to where there was a cart. I had never noticed these carts before as I thought they were strollers. My arms were stocked with shirts and shorts of all different styles. My friends were right behind me. We went to the dressing rooms, where the excitement really began. We tried on so many different styles. My blood was pumping and I was so excited I couldn't contain myself. I found some fun shoes and sunglasses to try out also. Did U mention this amazing coupon party started out with Crowdtap. Where I am on The Old Navy Style Council. I must be doing something right! If you would like to sign up please visit http://bit.ly/h9g9tL and you can start answering questions and get in on having some fun and sign up for some sample shares. Now for our fashion show in a few pictures. Prepare yourself for some awesomeness....

We had so much fun trying everything on. If you would like to find your own old navy summer shorts you can find them by going here www.oldnavy.com . I mean really don't you want to look as cute as we all did!!
All opinions shared are my own. I did not receive any compensation for this blog post. I did receive 4 coupons which allowed me and 3 friends of mine to receive one free pair of shorts, one free shirt, and one free accessory.

Dads

This weekend is father's day. And im involved with a website called crowd tap, where im in a group discussion about father's day. Today they asked what are some of your favorite memories with your father and I wanted to share my answer and put it on here. Its so weird how thinking about things like that really make your mind wonder. Makes you think about how you want your children to be raised, what you could be doing that your parents did, that you don't absolutely hate them for. It makes you think of all those happy child hood memories. If you are lucky like me I had my parents to myself for 5 whole years before my brother was born. And I remember what it is like to have full attention on you for those 5 years. Not that I remember being a baby but im pretty sure I loved all the attention even then. But before I start a novel here is my happy memories, well a tiny short excerpt of my happy memories with my dad.
When I was young my dad used to take me fishing all the time. I remember this one specific time he took me out on a little tiny boat and we fished and i ate these fruit roll ups that were made with real fruit. We used to go to a lake and i would fish with my little push pole and use hot dogs as bait. We used to live in Georgia when i was about 5 and that's when we fished a lot. Then when I was a little older and we moved to Florida every weekend we would go to the beach, we would sit on the bridge and fish and we would always have doritos and sandwiches that were packed in a cooler. Then when I was older in my teenage years, he started to teach me how to drive. My dad really was a great father and there are millions of memories that are my favorite but those are just a few from my younger years. Now that I am an adult my absolutely favorite memories are from when my children were born. We call him the baby whisperer. Really both of my children were smitten immediately. Especially my oldest because back then we lived with my parents and she would want him all the time still does now and she is almost 5. He would hold her and bounce around the kitchen when she had colic and only he could console her. It was very sweet. I had no idea how wonderful my dad would be as a grandparent but things like that really stick in my mind.
I really did have a pretty good childhood. I'm so lucky that have such great parents. I hope that my husband and I can be just as wonderful as my parents were.
